So i wanted to curl my hair for my 18th birthday party in 2 weeks, ive seen my hair dresser curl girls' hair before with a flat slim ceremic straightner, apparently it lasts longer? i tried it myself and wasnt very successful. Do you think i should just go with using an actual curling iron (cos i have both a ceremic straightner and a ceremic curler) or can someone show/explain to me how to do with with the straightner?
Also how can i keep the curls from dropping out for the whole day, ive used hair spray to hold it, but it often makes my hair look oily/greasy.. any ideas?Should i curl my hair with a curling iron or a flat slim hair straightner?
Making curls with a straightener is easy! Just grab the top of your hair with the straightener and twist until you make about 3 rotations and pull down. the faster you pull, the tighter the curl... check out this youtube video for help...Should i curl my hair with a curling iron or a flat slim hair straightner?
If you're not very experienced with using a hair straightener for curling, defs go for the curler. It'll be much easier for you. What type of hair spray are you using? Cheap brands don't have much hold factor and hold to much grease. I recommend the hairspray Bedhead by TIGI makes. Look it up on the site. Hope this helps.

i agree, i think if u will be doing your hair then unless you are very expirienced you should use a curling iron. Using a hair staightner does last longer but if you dont know the technies that makes it very hard.gud luk!!!!!
buy tresemme's Curl Activator Spray. Best cheap hair product ive ever used. give each strand a spritz before you curl it with the curling iron. really helps it to hold.

How to curl hair with a curling iron.? More details below;?
Ok, i've tried a few attemps at curling my own hair. So, i know that you take the curler and you wind your hair up. Howwever when you release your hair and as you push down the lever thingie to open and you slide the curler out of your hair......the hair is wrapped around the whole curler so its really hard to push down the lever thing that opens on the curler which is in your hair because hair is wrapped around the whole thing........how do other people do it? My hair is naturally very wavy, so before I go to school, I always straighten it. (:
But I'm starting to notice that I always look the same when I go to school, so I want to start being a little more different.
So I bought a 1/2 curling iron and I can't get those really thin curls :[[

Well for the third one you just need bangs and a flat iron
for the other two, clamp your hair with the curling iron going upwards. Twist your hair in it by twisting the iron sideways, not up and down. Hold it for 25 seconds and untiwst carefully. Do small sections and spray. I am really bad at explaining thi sbut I can see it in my head... this probably won't help much lol sorry

I personally think it looks super pretty when you curl with a straightening iron. :) Here's how to do it.
Take a 1 inch piece of hair in your hand and clamp the straightener down on it about 5 inches away from the root.
Roll the straightener up the hair until you've rotated it so that the piece of hair that is hanging out is hanging down again.
Slowly, pull the straightener down the straightener down to the end of the strand. Make sure to angle it pointing downwards slightly!
When you get to the bottom, pull it all the way down and release the straightener. Let the curl go, and spray with hairspray to ensure it holds. :)
Confused? I'd be! :P I watched this youtube video to learn how to do it. I highly recommend it!

however, to help you out, i think the most you'd be able to do is just flip the ends out. that's all i could do with my old flat-iron.

Honestly, i learned from watching a few YouTube vids. is pretty simple...just search for curling your hair with a flat iron. Its is really hard to explain via typing...so my suggestion is to get on youtube and watch a vid or 2.
Oh by the way..in my pic, my hair is curled with my Chi...and the curls you get from a flat iron are different then curling iron curls...and in my opinion much better. Flat iron curls stay in my hair all day where as curling iron curls tend to fall really fast.

However, if you have a regular curling iron with the clamp then this is what you will want to do. ( lets see if i can explain this...)
-Use your curling iron and wrap the piece of hair around it as if you were using a barrel curling iron. When you do this make sure you move the clamp ( i know you cant remove the clamp, but push the lever to that the clamp away from the iron) Careful not to burn your self!
Kinda hard to explain this one, In this case it's easier done than said! lol
In all simplicity, just use your regular curling iron as if it were a ';barrel'; curling iron and you can achieve these curls from scalp to ends...I do it all the time!

OK what I would do is figure out if you want to do ring curls or curls that flip out or in..then if you want ring curls than take the curling iron and grab a piece of hair with it and continue wrapping it around your hair. then just let go of the handle and you have a curl. If you want in or out curls then again grab a piece of hair with it,at the top and slide it down your hair.then when you get the the bottom curl it up for how big you want the curl. hold it for a few seconds and release.Then top either off with ur favorite hairspray but if you don't have 1 then i would recommend Garnier Fructis Hope i helped!! :D
