I have wavy/ loose curly hair, but when I curl my hair with a curling iron my curls always fall out even with hairspray. Even if I go get them done by a few hours they fall out, but if I straighten my hair it stays straight until I wash it out. When I use gel and hairspray my hair feels too stiff. What can I do or use to have them last without having them feel stiff? How can I keep my hair curled?
try joico thermal design foam. put it on before you curl it and hairspray after, it stays in all day.How can I keep my hair curled?
leave it....... be natural
you can put a perm in
Unfortunately you cnt
Unless you buy those curlers which run on gas
Therefore carrying them round with you.
I have to cake my hair in Hairspray so its mega crunchy
Dont use gel unless you want that wet curly hair look
To make your curls go on for hours, try these 10 tips.
If you use hot rollers or a curling iron in the morning, but your style is flat by lunchtime, try these tricks to help your curls stay put all day:
1. Don't wash every day. Hair with a bit of natural oil distributed through it holds a style better than squeaky-clean locks.
2. Use a light conditioner. Heavy conditioners can leave a residue on your hair, weighing it down and pulling out curl. If you do need a thicker conditioner to combat damage, take extra care to rinse well.
3. Blot before you style. Post-shower, remove excess moisture from hair by gently wrapping it with a towel. Too-wet hair is difficult to dry and style.
4. Apply a volumizer. If your hair has a hard time holding a style, chances are it is fine and limp. Volumizer will give it lift at the root and a foundation for styling.
5. Treat damaged ends. Apply a small dab of leave-in conditioner or hair cream to just the ends of damaged or chemically-treated hair. It will help smooth fuzzy areas, which in turn makes styling and setting easier.
6. Blow dry upside down. This gives hair natural movement and bend, a great starting point for adding more curl.
7. Choose professional-grade tools. They heat up more evenly and reach a higher temperature than many drugstore tools. Find professional tools at a beauty supply store.
8. Spray before you set. Apply a mist of hairspray or setting lotion to each section of hair before you curl.
9. Spray underneath, too. Don't forget to apply hairspray to the underside of each section -- the more hold you have within your style, the better it will withstand the day.
10. Re-mist during the day. If your curls are falling flat, spritz on a curl-reviver (Pantene makes a great one) mid-day. Follow up with another light layer of hairspray.

After you warm up the iron, what to do is open the thing (sorry i don't know what its called) and roll your hair up in it. Hold it for about 15 seconds, and slowly release it. After, apply hairspray to keep it in place.

Amika hair iron... how to curl?
Ok, so I just bought the Amika flat iron (the one that also curls) at the mall. I straightened my hair (AWESOME!) and it's just as great as when the girl showed it to me. One small problem... the girl put this really awesome curl in my hair in like two seconds, and I want to curl my hair all over. I can't figure out how to use it to curl! The directions for curling are brief, uninformative, and I just can't seem to get it. Anyone have good directions, or a website with help/info/photos for curling?
Thanks!
ps- yes, it is worth it, for anyone who has considered purchasing one ;)Amika hair iron... how to curl?
difficult to describe, but ill take a shot at it. there are quite a few ways, but try this one. take the section you want to curl and comb it smooth and away from your head *sideways*. hold the iron a few inches away from you scalp with the hair between the iron. wrap that piece around one side of the iron. now close your iron and twirl/pull it away it, unspinning the hair your wrapped around the iron. you need to wrap and twirl the hair in the same direction or there will be this horrible kink in it where the curl begins. troll youtube and you'll find hundreds of video's n how tos if you're looking for other techniques, i just gave you the one i find to be the easiest. Forewarning, USE THERMAL PROTECTANTS! flat irons are hot, like center of the sun hot and can fry hair in a flash, a thermal spray wont cause any grief and itll save your hair. please invest in one especially if your playing around learning curls, as the hair stays in contact with the iron for a much longer time then basic flat ironing. Im not trying to scare you, just warn you that if you hold the iron in one spot for too long, it WILL damage your hair. use a good thermal spray like reken fabricate or spray starch or hot sets, or matrix sllek look flat iron spray. hunt around, you'll be able to find one on sale somewhere, but please please please dont muck about with out one.
Thanks!

How can i curl my hair to get it curly everywhere?
I have straight hair and i curl my hair a lot with a curling iron but i do it in the morning for school which means i only have a little of time, it takes me 10-15 min. its pretty fast because i hold every piece for 8 sec. but it doesn't get very curly on the top, like only the bottom half is curly. how can i get the top part to get curly also? should i use a different curling iron or is the problem because i hold for only 8 secs.?How can i curl my hair to get it curly everywhere?
I'm no professional but I put small sponge rollers in my hair at night and in the morning I take them out at an angel than I run my fingers through it to style the curls the way I want them than recurl with the curling iron on areas that aren't the way I want them to be (that's mainly my top curls, the back always looks great) Hopefully that should give you more time on the top curls. How can i curl my hair to get it curly everywhere?
try using curlers and put them in the night before, and it stays for a few days and has an all over affect
oh no you should defuice it!
what you do is get you hair super wet and put some prodect in it(jell)
and then you go to the vent flip your hair over and curnch it!
it works every time for me!
it takes 5 min.
If you're doing it every day anyway, why don't you get a perm?

How to use a curling iron? i must be doing it wrong or something.?
I have a curling iron, actualy a few. and i want to use the barrel curling iron but everytime i use it it doen't curl my hair, it just leaves a ';fish hook'; on the end of the section of hair. I can't get the other ,smaller, curling irons to work eather. What am I doing wrong? I allow them to heat up enough..and I have straight, long, thin hair..so. whats the problem? How can I make tthe curling iron curl my hair??? Its funny..I have no problem with the spiral curling iron. just all the regular ones. How to use a curling iron? i must be doing it wrong or something.?
The ';fish hook'; look happens when you don't get all of the end of the hair inside the clamp. Start with the curling iron at the top of your section of hair, then pull it down all the way to the end, being sure that the ends of the hair are completely inside the clamp of the curling iron, then roll to the top of your head. After you are done, gently work the clamp release so that you can pull the hair out without having to unroll it. Voilè„¿, curls with no ';fish hooks';!
If the rest of the hair doesn't curl, work mouse into your hair while still wet, and blow dry with a diffuser. Then, when you curl your hair, add a little spritz of hairspray before you let it go.
There is also the possibility that you are trying to put too much hair on the curling iron at one time. This will prevent the heat from getting to the top. Only put about an inch of hair on the curling iron at one time.If you have really long hair like I do, you will need to curl the bottom half of the hair, release, then curl the top half of the hair. How to use a curling iron? i must be doing it wrong or something.?
It could be just the type of hair you have. My cousin had thin straight hair and never could get it to curl. She finally figured out that by spraying it w/ hair spray while it is still wrapped around the curling iron does help some, and by leaving your hair in the iron longer.
HaIrSpRaY...
-after blowdryin ur hair, put into sections to how ur gonna curl
-grab a section ur gonna curl, hairspray it
-then, comb through so the spray spreads.
-grab the curlin iron nd curl
-hairspray lightly to the hair thats bein curled. use a napkin or ur fingers nd spread the hairspray around the hair...careful its hot
-after 10-20 seconds of holdin the curlin iron, unwind the iron nd hairspray again to the curl...
-do this to all sections
-run ur fingers through som of the curls wen ur all done all around to loosein som of them
Try taking really small sections, to much hair will give that look because the hair can't reach the heat to set the style.

How to stop my curling iron from leaving indents?
When i curl my hair with an iron, in the mouth part(i hope you know what i mean, the part you *clamp* your hair in so it holds it in place while you twist the rest of your hair around the barrel.)
When i do that it leaves an indent and looks bad. It mostly happens with my big one (like 1 1/2 inch)
So any tips or tricks on how to stop that? How to stop my curling iron from leaving indents?
When you are curling your hair start at the root and then gently pull the barrel to the ends the very ends and then start curling up and you'll have no awful indents.
Haha the same thing happened to me.

How do I curl my hair with a flatiron?
My bestfriend's sister got her hair curled using a flatiron for dance line. It looked so pretty. The curls were much more elegant than using a curling iron. I have a CHI flat iron just like this:http://www.freewebs.com/hairbeautychi/ch
